Beat exploitation movie in the wake of Jack Kerouac, using the beat/coffee bar scene as a backdrop to the pursuit of a psychopathic rapist. It was produced by Albert Zugsmith, and features one of his regular actresses, the amazing Mamie Van Doren. TV horror hostess Vampira also does a turn as a beatnik poet. Another beat/murder fusion was The Bloody Brood (also 1959), with Peter Falk as a beatnik psycho, while The Fat Black Pussycat (1962) featured a string of girls murdered in the beatnik haunts of Greenwich Village by a psychotic lesbian.
