Hammer Films, yellow peril

Production: UK, 1961
Director: Anthony Bushell
Category: Yellow Peril
Hammer’s Terror Of The Tongs was a tale of Hong Kong’s Red Dragon Tong of 1919 – a murderous secret sect engaged in white slavery and opium smuggling. The film’s hero eventually avenges his daughter’s death by bringing down the Tong leader Chung King (Christopher Lee), but not before he has been subjected to such refined tortures as bone-scraping. Lee was warming up for his later portrayal of oriental fiend Fu Manchu in a series of films produced by Harry Alan Towers, starting with The Face Of Fu Manchu in 1965.
